The PhD in Nanotechnology intends to train autonomous researchers in both academic and industrial research, integrating different disciplines and promoting active contacts with industry in a framework of national and international collaborations and projects.
The theses are carried out on topics of current worldwide interest in the field and at the interface between nano- and bio-technologies: sensors, lab on chip and organ on chip, nanomedicine and pharmacological research, nanoelectronics and spintronics, magnetism and superconductivity, photonics, analytical chemistry, cell biology and molecular, applied biology, physiology, biochemistry, medicine, botany and plant pathology, ecology.
Each doctoral student has a personalized career development plan characterized by an interdisciplinary approach. In the laboratories, specific skills are provided on the use of advanced methodologies necessary for carrying out the student research project. Seminars and advanced courses provide information on frontiers and open issues in the fields of nano- and bio-technologies, aiming at a profitable transfer of interdisciplinary knowledge thanks to the composition of the college that brings together skills in different and complementary fields. PhD students are trained to critically analyze the results and disseminate them in the scientific community in international publications and conferences. The development of autonomous skills and the acquisition of complementary skills are also targeted, such as presentation skills, writing project proposals, project management and aspects related to intellectual property and entrepreneurship.
